The drummer from Foxygen will be bringing his genre-bending magic to Chicago's Hideout Inn.
Next month, I'll be driving down south to CRSSD Festival, a two-day electronic music festival at the 12-acre San Diego Waterfront Park. The line-up features a slew of big names but I am most excited to see Gessalfelstein and Rüfüs Du Sol, my two favorite artists!
On February 16th at the Downey Theater, I'm going to Valentina, a show by Ballet Nepantla, a Mexican folklorico dance group. Since I know about as much as folklorico as you (presumably) do, I'll let their website explain: "Ballet Nepantla presents Valentina: a collection of stories that speak to the strength and resilience of women during Revolutionary Mexico. By fusing contemporary ballet with traditional Mexican folklorico, "Valentina" tells stories of wealth and power, hope and despair, struggle and loss, and triumph."
This month I'm excited about lift tickets! This is the first year I've gotten a season pass for Big Bear Mountain + Snow Summit and I've been having a ton of fun going up with my buddies!
This is the first season ever I've hit the slopes consistently and it's awesome to see myself progress and improve. Nothing beats escaping the LA smog like going up to the mountains for some fresh air!
I'm looking forward to seeing the new Cirque Du Soleil show on Valentine's Day! My girlfriend Janki has always wanted to see one, and I'm extra excited because the show focuses on action sports like BMX in its performance. Can't wait!
I am looking forward to a plethora of ticketed events this concert season. Some of the bands on my must-see list include Tame Impala at the Forum in March, Local Natives at the Greek in May and Harry Styles at the Forum in September. I have a few festivals on my calendar to attend between now and Fall as well. Concert season is my favorite time of the year!
I'm counting down the days until the beginning of March for the kickoff of the Billie Eilish tour. After seeing Billie perform at Ascend in Nashville this year during what could've been an actual tornado, it's going to be incredible to see her and her fans takeover arenas across the globe. Less than a month to go!
The one show that has been on my radar since it was announced is Tame Impala at The Forum this coming March. They are, by far, one of my favorite bands to see live. When you also combine that with the fact that their upcoming album The Slow Rush releases Friday February 14th, the excitement is just too crazy right now.
I'm excited to see VOLTA by Cirque du Soleil which currently playing in Los Angeles. If you have never been one of these shows in Las Vegas or your city, I highly recommend going. Be ready to be blown away by dangerous stunts, acrobatic performances, and mystical storytelling.
Lots of my favorite Chicago restaurants--Next, Alinea--sell tickets rather than take reservations. It makes sense, especially when the food is such a performance. Last month, I went to Atelier Crenn, where the menu is composed as a poem, the cuisine skews pescatarian, and no dish is exactly what it seems. Plus, it's helmed by the first female chef to be awarded three Michelin stars.
I recently got to attend my first ever NFL game, which is surprising considering I played football for 11 years and it was always my favorite sport growing up. Got to see the Eagles beat the Giants at the Meadowlands in week 17, was cold but a lot of fun!
