Objective of Campaign Requires Creative with External Link or Call to Action

"Objective of campaign requires creative with external link or call to action: For this campaign objective, a creative is required to have either external link or Call to Action."

If your campaign's objective is website conversions and you've selected a page post to be promoted without URL links, this error will occur. Facebook is trying to deliver results based on the URL in the ad—but your page post ad does not contain a URL.

If you've received this message, there are a few steps you can take to help resolve this error.

How To Fix:

There are two ways to solve this issue depending on what you would like.

1. Drive Traffic

If you'd like to drive traffic to a specific URL, select a page post that contains your URL or enter your URL and create a new ad below in the Design Ad step.

Then, select 'Update Campaign' to re-upload your ad campaign to Facebook.

2. Use Page Post

If you'd like to use that page post, change the strategy of your ad campaign to optimize for post engagement rather than conversions in the Edit Objective step.
